In summer of 2002, my company (Silver X Software) began looking for someone

to compose and arrange a number of various music scores. So we sent in a lot of help

wanted ads "looking for a composer" posts on garage games.

(www.garagegames.com) The next day we got a few replies, they sent in

samples of their music, it sounded good, but they said it would cost $150.00

per minute. Well, that's just insane! Later the vice president of Silver X

Software (Kyle) found Derek Coleman.

And Kyle started telling me about him.

So, I sent Derek an email. A few minutes later he replied.

I checked out his samples, hmm, they sound good.

I sent a reply back. "How much is it?"

A few moments later he replied again. "Free" he said, "as long as you give

me credit and display a splash screen of my logo."

Free? I couldn't believe it! The same great quality of music that everybody

else was composing for

$150.00 per minute, Derek was doing it for free with credits.

So, we decided to let Derek Coleman compose some scores for us. He did it, and had it ready in about 3 or 4 days. Every last one of our requests he has done.

When everybody else quit because it was too tough or too much Derek Coleman stuck with it till the end.
